Careful With That Conductor’s Baton, Richard!
We’re gearing up for our concert on 30th November with the Orpheus Sinfonia and five wonderful soloists. Rehearsals are going well – the next two will be in the church itself accompanied by a pianist and we’ll be able to put the finishing touches to this interesting selection of music. We may also practise a surprise Christmas item to round off the evening. The programme notes have been written and you can get them at the door on the night. They include the sonnet that prefaced the original edition of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. The programme also mentions the rather unusual deaths of two composers – Purcell likely caused by pneumonia after being locked out of his house following a pub-crawl, and Lully by complications from an injury caused during conducting. Our conductor, Richard, has promised to be careful in the use of his baton on the night!
Tickets are available on the door. But you get a discount if you book them in advance.
