Our Conductor – Richard Thomas

Richard Thomas was appointed Musical Director of Sine Nomine Singers in January 2016.

Richard’s love of choral music was born whilst a chorister at Westminster Cathedral. Later on, armed with a BMus from University College Cardiff, he secured a job in the marketing department of the Philharmonia Orchestra. After several years there he was head-hunted by the then co-owner of Rhinegold Publishing and appointed Marketing Manager. This successful relationship lasted for around 20 years after which Richard worked as Marketing & Licensing Manager at International Theatre & Music. He is currently Operations Manager for the Orpheus Sinfonia Foundation and Administrator of the Keyboard Charitable Trust.

Richard sang tenor in the Philharmonia Chorus for 16 years. An elected position to the Council of Management, held for several years, led to him serving as Chairman of the chorus from 1999-2002.

Richard was appointed Organist and Musical Director of St Matthew’s Church Choir, Ealing Common in September 2005. This affords him regular opportunities to unearth and conduct forgotten gems with the loyal singers there and also provides an incentive to improve his self-taught organ-playing.

In 2009 he attained a Diploma in Choral conducting from the Association of British Choral Directors.
